‘Avengers’ perform heroically at the box office
Clearly, the BIGGEST movie news of the week is that your MTV at the Movies site has a totally new look! However, besides that, we seem to recall hearing something vaguely noteworthy about ‘The Avengers’ smashing box office records to score the biggest-ever opening weekend at the U.S. box office. Pretty darn impressive! Seriously, though, what do you think of our new look?!
‘Hunger Games’ gets spoofed
Well, it was probably inevitable that the pop culture phenomenon of ‘The Hunger Games’ would inspire a parody. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the same team that has spoofed scary movies, date movies, dance movies, disaster movies, and vampire movies, will write and direct ‘The Starving Games,’ Variety reports. As usual, the flick will take shots at a range of popular films, but the main target of the satire will be Katniss and company. And as usual, we’re guessing, there will be laugh-out-loud moments as well as eye-rolling ones.
Paddington becomes a movie star
The beloved character of Paddington Bear is coming to a theater near you for the first time ever. Fans will no doubt be happy to hear that ‘Harry Potter’ producer David Heyman is working on the live-action CGI family movie, which will modernize the classic children’s book, according to a press statement. Hmmm…who do you think should perform the voice of Paddington?
